TThe Goodwill Fund has recently celebrated its’ Golden Jubilee and remains the largest voluntary group in the village in terms of Raising and Giving, with over £3000 raised every year, all used to support various activities throughout the village and surrounding hamlets.
The largest fundraiser is the Annual Show and Sale held in September, which raises over £1000 every year.
There has been an annual flower and produce show in the village since the war and in 1963 a new produce competition and show was held at the Chequers, in aid of ‘The old folks and children’s Christmas fund’. The show featured a number of side stalls and competitions in the field including bowling for a pig! The event raised £60, and heralded the start of the Goodwill Fund.
The Fund still supports the over 65s at Christmas, with the food parcels and pensioner’s lunch, and children with the Santa sledge and Book fund, but now also provides support to many people throughout the year, especially with transport to Hospital and Doctors.
We are very grateful to our volunteer drivers who are essential to this service. If you would like to help, please email our chairman Mick Andrews email@example.com
Fuel expenses are paid to drivers for all trips.
We are also very grateful to the “Friends of the Goodwill” who help out at the many events we run over the year, especially the Show and Sale, helping to set up and run the stalls and the Pensioners lunch, where the many hands make light work of serving and washing up. If you feel you could lend a hand in any way as a Friend of the Goodwill, again do please contact Mick
